초록
The Korea Institute of Radiological and Medical Sciences has organized and conducted education on radioactivity prevention. The KIRAMS provides specialized education program, including radiation emergency medical education for radiological emergency medical personnel and radiation emergency preparedness course for first responders. Existing radiation emergency medical education exhibits limitations in depicting radiation emergencies due to the specificity of radiation accidents. This study aims to overcome the limitations of traditional education and improve training effectiveness by developing a virtual reality (VR)/augmented reality (AR) training simulator for radiation emergency response. The VR/AR training simulator comprises eight training contents, focusing on the treatment and triage of radiation-exposed patients, the radiation measurement, and decision-making in the event of a radiation accident. A total six VR/AR training program were implemented in 2023. Proficiency assessment tool was used to evaluate the trainees’ proficiency before and after training. The collected data was analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 23. The results indicated statistically increase in the trainees’ proficiency levels after all of the training. If the VR/AR training simulator is continuously applied to radiation emergency medicine-related training, it is expected to help foster skilled radiological emergency medical personnel and improve the capabilities of radiation emergency medicine to promote public safety.
