학습자의 학습양식에 따른 선호 교수유형 분석

이 연구는 학습자들의 학습양식에 따라 선호하는 교수유형에 차이가 있는지 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 A대학교 학생들 900명을 조사대상으로 하였고, 이 중 불성실하게 응답하거나 누락된 데이터를 제거한 786개의 자료만을 분석하였다. 이 연구를 위해 사용된 연구도구는 Felder와 Solomon이 개발한 학습양식 검사지(ILS: Index of Learning Style)이고, 이를 한글로 번안하여 사용하였다. 분석결과 A대학 학생들은 상당히 시각적(597명, 76.0%)이고, 감각적(550명, 70.0%)이며, 다소간 숙고적(457명, 58.1%)이고 총체적(432명, 55.0%)인 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 이런 결과는 전공에 따라 차이가 있었고, 일부 전공의 몇 개 영역에서는 전체 결과와 상반된 결과를 나타내었다. 학습양식에 따른 선호 교수유형을 분석한 결과 학습양식에 따라 선호하는 교수유형에 차이가 있는 것이 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 전체적으로 학생들이 선호하는 교수유형은 강의식이 60% 이상을 차지하였고, 토론식은 30%, 팀 프로젝트 식과 실험실습은 20%, 인터넷 혼합식은 20% 미만인 것으로 나타났다. 이 중, 강의식을 선호하는 유형은 숙고, 감각형이고, 이와는 반대로 적극, 직관, 총체형이 팀 프로젝트식을 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 토론식을 선호하는 유형은 감각형이고, 실험실습을 선호하는 유형은 감각과 시각형인 것으로 나타났다. 이에 비해 인터넷 혼합수업 선호도는 학습양식에 따른 차이를 보이지 않았다. 연구결과, 학습자들의 학습양식은 전공에 따라 차이가 있었으며, 학습양식에 따라 선호하는 교수유형에도 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로 전공적 특성과 학생들의 학습양식은 대학교육에서 적절한 교수방법을 결정하는 하나의 요인이 된다고 할 수 있다. 추후에는 전공과 학습양식에 따른 효과적인 교수방법이 무엇인지를 보다 정교하게 탐색할 필요가 있다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out whether there is a relationship in educational method preference and students' learning style. For this purpose, 900 students participated in this study. The research tool is Felder and Solomon's ILS(Index of Learning Style Questionnaire; from http://www.engr.ncsu.edu/learningstyles/ilsweb.html), and the analysis methods are frequency analysis, cross tabulation, Chi-square distribution, ANOVA, and Tukey distribution. The findings of this study were as follows: 1) The result of learning style analysis is that frequency of visual(76.0%) and sensing(70.0%) style are very high, and reflective(58.1%) and global(55.0%) style are some high. But, it is different from their major. 2) The result of preference of teaching method is that frequency of lecture(over 60%) is very high, the frequency of discussion is 30%, team project is 20%, experiment and simulation is 20%, and on-line or blended method is less than 20%. 3) The results of the study indicated that there is statistically significant differenced between preference of teaching method and students' learning style. The reflective and sensing style prefer to lecture method otherwise, active, intuitive, and global style prefer to team project method. And, sensing style prefer to discussion method, sensing and visual style prefer to experiment and simulation method. But, there is no statistically significant differences between learning style and on-line or blended method. From the results of the analysis, the followings can be suggested. 1) Students' learning style is an important element when the university faculties decide their teaching method. 2) Students's learning style is different from their major, and it is needed that teaching method is more elaborated by their major.
