Abstract
The intention to exit in marketing channel is made out as an essential concept to understand the channels members' behavior in the relationship of marketing channels. The purpose of this study is explaining the relationship between marketing channel leder and members with member's intention to exit for current marketing channel. In this study, relational characteristics variables impacting on intention to exit from marketing channel are certified. For the perspective of marketing channel member, twelve hypotheses were proposed and tested by statistical analysis. Especially, some variables in terms of regulatory sector and competitive sector are included to explain members' intention to exit. Namely, factors from regulatory sector are distributive fairness, procedural fairness, mutual fairness, exclusive transaction, partner discrimination, role of discrimination, unreasonable action. And factors from competitive sector include switching cost, alternative, transaction period. These are newly added for the first time by looking up the members' intention to exit. For the empirical investigation, 118 franchisees which were provided products and marketing services from a certain franchiser company. Through the regression analysis, mostly 10 variables from all hypotheses have meaningful effect to members' intention to exit. As a result, we identify the followings. First of all, channel members' intention to exit in current marketing channel is effected the economical loss perception, the divergence from conflict, unreasonable action, transaction period, alternative in a positive way. Second, channel members' intention to exit is influenced over trust, satisfaction, dependence from power, fairness, switching cost in a negative way. Finally, some variable such as switching cost, alternatives, unreasonable action should investigate the moderation effects to members' intention to exit. The conclusion of the study imply that in maintaining good relationship with channel members, the marketing channel leaders need to deal with relational attributes systematically. And for the limit of this study, more elaborate researches are requested.
