본고는 점차 경쟁의 격랑 속으로 빠져들고 있는 시대적 인식에 의해 부산항의 경쟁력을 종합적으로 평가하고 미래를 전망함으로써 부산항에 남겨진 과제를 제시하기 위해 집필되었다. 지금까지 부산항은 일본과 중국이라는 두 경제대국 사이에 위치한 유일한 항만으로서의 입지의 우위, 그리고 정책적 항만비용의 우위에 의해 성장해왔다. 시설과 서비스 수준은 열악했지만 경쟁이 치열하지 않았던 상황에서 서비스의 열위는 성장에 큰 장애가 되지는 않았던 것으로 보인다. 그러나 앞으로 이야기는 달라질 것이다. 다행히 부산항은 경쟁력을 획기적으로 개선시켜 줄 것으로 기대되는 신항만의 개장을 눈앞에 두고 있다. 그리고 항만의 운영주체도 달라진다. 이러한 환경의 내외부적인 변화에 어떻게 대처해야 앞날을 기약할 수 있을까? 본고에서는 부산항의 경쟁력에 관한 기존의 연구결과를 체계적으로 분석하여, 유용한 몇 가지의 전략대안을 제시하고자 한다.
Abstract
This paper was written in order to evaluate the competitiveness of port of Busan and to show some subjects left behind. The port of Busan has grown by the predominance of the port service price that used to be decided by political consideration and the geo-economical advantage as an only port located between two big powers of eastern asia, Japan and China. Although the facilities of the port had been poor and level of services inferior, it seems that these inferiorities had not brought large trouble to growth of port of Busan, in the situation which competition was not intense. However, the tomorrows would not be seemed to be same with yesterdays. How should we cope with these changes of such internal and external environment? Fortunately, opening of new harbor of Busan is greeted at hand, and that expected to improves its' competitiveness epoch-makingly, and the property of managing organization in this port would be changed simultaneously. In addition, five strategies for the expectable future of port of Busan were extracted in this paper, based on literatural review and institutional analysis
