Abstract
Depending on the timing and content of providing feedback messages(notification text services), the needs felt by consumers and their impact on the next purchase behavior may vary. In addition, the individual characteristics of consumers who are provided with feedback messages can also influence subsequent consumption behavior. In this study, we investigated the effect of feedback message and self-regulatory focus on the pain of payment and anticipated regret felt by consumers at the point of purchase. Afterwards, we examined how these emotional responses affect the behavioral response of alternative choice. As a result of the study, as in the hypothesis of this study, when no feedback message was provided, the pain of payment and anticipated regret were higher in the prevention-focused group than in the promotion-focused group. When the feedback message was provided, as expected in this study, there was no difference between the pain of payment and the anticipated regret between the prevention focus group and promotion focus group. However, the interaction effect of feedback message and self-regulatory focus was not confirmed. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study are presented based on these research results.
