Abstract
Because of particular matter hazard, the environmental issue has recently risen among policy agenda in Korea. Especially, the air pollution which is likely to be exposed to unspecific people could widely more influence human than other pollutions. The air pollutants cause environmental disease like a respiratory disease. In this study, it aims to reveal the effect of air pollutant on environmental disease in Seoul, Incheon, and Kyunggi that are Seoul metropolitan areas. By using panel data, it examined whether the concentration of five air pollutants which include SO2, NO2, O3, CO and PM10 affected the number of allergic rhinitis patients and the number of asthma patients with the size of greenfield and the number of medical institution as control variables between 2012 and 2016. As a result, O3 had significantly positive effect on the increase of allergic rhinitis patients. SO2 had significantly positive effect on the increase of asthma patients. Among air pollutants, PM10 occasionally exceeded annual air quality standards, so especially the emission of PM10 should be reduced PM2.5.
