Abstract

In a traditional teaching classroom, students used to experience a passive learning that teachers lectured students and students strived to remember and understand what were taught. It was rare for individuals to experience constructing knowledge in a meaningful form of significance. Contrary to traditional pedagogical process, children acquire the complexity and diverse phenomena of the world through experiential process that they immerge in meaningful learning activities get interested in learning activities. Through engagement in such activities, children may develop a love for these activities and understand their meanings. Field trip experiences using museums can engage children in intriguing, meaningful activities which would not be possible in the traditional classroom. Unfortunately, truth is, these experiences mostly stay ceremonial in actual classrooms. Currently, museums operating systematic educations are not well established, so a prominent model case among one of museums for kids in North America is selected to analyze what it is all about. This study describes how museum educational programs provide learning experiences for children to construct knowledge in person and discusses what kinds of implication they have to the traditional classroom from the constructivist point of view. So to speak, it exerted to provide a specific example of how museum education incorporates key factors for constructive learning such as authentic tasks, experience-based learning, guided inquiry, cooperative learning, resource-based learning, and so forth. Furthermore, it investigates the importance of museum's partnership with school.
