Abstract
The purpose of the present study is to explain the effects of self-efficacy, online task value and self-regulated learning on the satisfaction and achievement of cyber university students. The subject were 1,298 W cyber university students who participated 2007 1st semester. A hypothetical model was proposed, which was composed of self-efficacy, online task value and self-regulated learning factors as prediction variables, and satisfaction and achievement factors as outcome variables. The results of this study through structural equation modeling indicated that the online task value, self-regulated learning and self-efficacy influenced significantly on both learner's satisfaction and achievement. The result showed that satisfaction is influenced by in order of online task value, self-efficacy, and self-regulated learning. We also found that self-regulated learning has most effect on achievement, followed by online task value, and self-efficacy. The results like these imply that factors which have significant correlations in learner's motivation such as self-efficacy, online task value and self-regulated learning should be considered for the design and development strategies of online courses of cyber university. This study will serve as a first step in measuring structures of online situation in cyber university and can provide valuable insights about the future performance of the students in online learning.
