기업 사이버교육에서 학습자의 중도탈락에 대한 결정요인 분석

본 연구에서는 이수자와 중도탈락자 집단 사이에 차이를 보이는 변인이 무엇인지, 또 이들 집단의 구분이 어떤 변인들에서 어느 정도의 영향을 받는지를 규명하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이에 본 연구는 한국 S 기업의 2007년 4분기 사이버교육 강좌를 수강한 587명(이수자 369명, 중도탈락자 218명)을 대상으로 학습자 배경, 학습자 내적특성, 교육과정/내용, 교육환경, 교육지속의향 등을 변인으로 하는 웹 서베이를 실시하였다. 수집된 데이터를 로지스틱 회귀분석하여 독립변인이 종속변인에 미치는 영향력을 검증한 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 학습자 배경변인 중 직장 업무 부담, 가사와 사이버교육 병행의 어려움 정도, 학습 할애 시간, 이전의 사이버교육 수강 횟수는 이수자와 중도탈락자 사이에 유의한 차이를 보였다. 또한 학습자 내적 특성, 교육과정/내용, 교육지속의향 변인이 이수자와 중도탈락자 사이에 영향을 미치는 변인으로 나타났다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 기업 사이버교육에서 학생들의 중도탈락률을 감소시키기 위해, 영향력이 높은 변인들을 우선적으로 고려할 것을 제안하였다.
Abstract
As information technology (IT) has been rapidly developed, e-learning is also growing to meet the need of lifelong education using internet. However, with the growth of e-learning has come the big problem of high dropout rates. The purpose of this present study was to identify the major factors influencing drop-out in corporate e-learning. 587 employees(persistence n=369, dropout n=218) who enrolled an e-learning course in S company were participated in this study. A logistic regression analysis was performed to identify predictors of dropout. It was determined that individual background(difficulty to carry work and family out together, amount of study time, number of previous online courses), learners' characteristic, learning courses and contents and learning persistence were able to predict dropout with nearly 73 percent accuracy. It implies that individual background(difficulty to carry work and family out together, amount of study time, number of previous online courses), learners' characteristic, learning courses and contents and learning persistence should be considered in design and operation of cyber courses.
