Abstract

This research focuses on a promotion of cultural facilities which is considerably related to cultural city development. In this paper we try to prospect the function and role of the cultural facilities in the long term, considering that cultural city depend upon citizen's cultural thoughts and the cultural and social infrastructure. We propose the appropriate changes of classified cultural facilities categories which was made by Minister of Culture and Tourism, analyze cultural facilities in comparison with the others in other countries and suppose a suitable cultural condition for the cultural facilities in Seoul. Through this research we made some conclusions. In the first place, it is necessary for specialists at cultural field to participate in the management of the cultural facilities. Secondly, we should have brainy view to solve discrepancies between the publicity and the commerciality in management for cultural facilities. Thirdly, it is needed to make an effort continuously to enlarge cultural market, not just to direct governmental performances. Fourthly, considering narrow cultural market, Seoul authorities should continue to support sufficiently and evaluate it strictly. Lastly, we suppose that enhanced citizen's participation to cultural facilities are possessed of kernel status on promotion of cultural facilities.
