원격고등교육기관별 우수 학습자 특성에 대한 학생들의 수행 및 인식 비교

본 연구는 우수한 원격학습자의 특성에 대한 학생들의 실제 수행 및 인식이 원격고등교육기관별로 어떤 차이가 있는가를 비교하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 먼저, 9명의 우수한 원격학습자와 7명의 원격교육 전문가에 대한 심층인터뷰를 통해 원격학습자의 성공에 영향을 미치는 34개 특성들을 규명하였다. 다음으로, 설문조사를 통해 각 특성에 대한 기관별 원격학습자들의 수행도를 비교하였다. 그 결과, 사이버대학 학생들은 학업비전이나 학습관리 관련 특성들이, 방송대 학생들은 협력 관련 특성들이 상대적으로 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, Q 방법론에 기초하여 각 특성들에 대한 우수 원격학습자들의 인식 차이를 비교하였다. 그 결과, 사이버대학과 원격대학원의 우수학습자들은 학업비전이나 학습관리 등을, 방송대 우수학습자들은 적절한 매체와 학습전략의 선택을 중요하게 생각하는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 이러한 차이가 각 원격고등교육기관의 교수학습체제에서 기인했음을 논하고, 이에 맞는 학습자 지원체제를 구축할 필요가 있음을 제안하였다.

Abstract

As increasing the demand on specialization of the distance education, the distance universities need to organize the learner support systems appropriate to their distance learners' characteristics. The purpose of this study is to compare the performance and perception on the successful distance learners' characteristics in three different distance universities such as open university, cyber universities and distance graduate schools. First, 34 successful distance learners' characteristics were verified by qualitative research based on interviews of 9 successful online learners and 7 distance education experts. Second, the survey of 171 distance learners was conducted in order to compare the performance of the 34 characteristics among three different universities. The results of the survey were that cyber universities' students had been excellent in the characteristics in related to the vision and management of studies and open universities' students had outstanding collaborative and cooperative characteristics. Third, as the result of comparing the perception of 9 excellent distance learners who had been participated in the interviews, on the basis of Q method, the 6 successful learners of cyber universities and distance graduate schools considered that the characteristics in related to the visions and managements of studies were important. The 3 outstanding students of open universities thought that the characteristics to select appropriate learning strategies and media to study were essential of successful studies. Finally, there were discussed the relations between the learners' characteristics and teaching and learning system of distance universities.
