Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the interaction effect between advertising expression method and text color on product attitude according to product type, using a 2(advertising expression method: implicit vs. explicit) x 2(text color: red vs. blue) x 2(product type: hedonic vs. utilitarian) between-group experimental design. The products used in this research were battery for utilitarian product and polaroid camera for hedonic product, and advertising expression method was produced respectively by conducting pretest. In other words, based on pretest, explicit and implicit messages were presented in red and blue respectively, a total of eight stimuli were produced according to product type and examine the experiments. The analysis results showed that in the case of the hedonic product, the product attitude is the most favorable when the advertisement is expressed implicitly in red, whereas in the case of the utilitarian product, the product attitude is the most favorable when the advertisement is expressed explicitly in blue. The results of this research are meaningful that it provides a practical guidance in establishing more effective advertising strategy based on the product type to the company in the future.
