초록

Although he has not been considered as one of the main members of the Generation of '70, Luis Alberto de Cuenca has left more works than any other poets of his own literary group. In addition, the main characteristic of his works is basically the same and it is found in the poetry of this group. The presence of “Culturalism” in his poems can be dated back to the decade of the seventies. Luis Alberto de Cuenca's 'Culturalism' is not rooted on the culture of mass media but on bookish culture, which demands from the reader deep knowledge of history, art or culture. In this sense, Luis Alberto de Cuenca can be considered a pioneer in the renovation of lyric poetry in opposition to the realism which had been prevalent in the previous period. However, in the 80's, his poetry started undergoing a significant change, as the presence of cultural elements was drastically reduced and his poems started incorporating some of his own daily experiences, which constituted a turning point back to realistic perspectives. His lyricism also became more plain and simple, while his poems turned shorter than they used to be. Such a change in Luis Alberto de Cuenca's verses exemplifies the essential characteristics of the poetics of the 80's, realism and the so-called “poetry of experience”. In this sense, Luis Alberto de Cuenca may be considered a poet who has played the role of a “bridge” between the generations of the seventies and the eighties.
