서울시 창작공간에 대한 지역사회의 인식 변화 연구: 금천예술공장을 중심으로

본 연구는 서울시 창작공간 사업에 따른 지역주민의 인식 변화를 살펴봄으로써 창작공간의 사회적 영향 관계를 밝히려는 데 목적이 있다. 그 가운데 산업지역으로서 문화적 기반이 취약한 금천구 소재의 금천예술공장을 대상으로 이론적 접근과 설문 조사를 실시하였으며, 연구방법은 ‘예술의 사회적 영향’ 연구에 기초하여 진행되었다. 본 연구 결과, 전체적으로 창작공간으로 인해 지역주민의 예술과 예술가에 대한 인식 변화가 이루어지고 있으며, 지역사회의 변화에 대해서도 긍정적인 역할을 인식하고 있음을 확인하였다. 단지 그룹별(방문자, 프로그램 참여자, 비방문자)로 인식 변화에서 차이를 드러내고있어 방문과 프로그램 참여가 인식 변화의 직접적 요인임을 알 수 있었고, 인구통계학적 특성에서도 학력과 수입, 직업별 요인이 작용함을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 요소를 감안함으로써 본 연구가 현재 창작공간이 갖는 쟁점을 성찰하며, 나아가 추후 창작공간의 역할을 조정하는 데 참조자료가 되리라 기대된다.
Abstract
The aim of this study is to explain the social impact of Art Space through examiningthe perceptional changes in Geumcheon community, a district that is included as part of Seoul ArtSpace Project. Geumcheon Art Factory, the focal arena of this study, is located in Geumcheon, thecommunity that can be characterized as culturally fragile and heavily industrial. For data collection,surveys were mainly used as a research method, and its theoretical and methodological approacheswere borrowed from "social impact of the arts" studies. The participants of this study(i.e. thecommunity members of Geumcheon) generally showed changes in their perception toward art andartists as well as acknowledged the positive role of the Geumcheon Art Factory for the environmentalimprovement of the local community. The data also showed that the perceptional changes of theparticipants groups(visitors, art program participants and non-visitors), were heavily influenced bythe number of visits and the exposure to the art program offered at the facility; other influenceswere based on demographic figures such as the level of education, incomes, and the type of profession. In this vein, we expect this study as a primary research to reflect on the issues of theArt Space and to redesign its role for the future.
