중기 비트겐슈타인의 철학을 체계적으로 이해하고자 할 때 가장 중요한 것 중 하나는 그가 왜 『논고』에서 제시한 말하기/보여주기 구분과 개념을 포기했는지를 해명하는 일이다. 그리고 이를 위해 반드시 선행되어야 하는 것은 『논고』의 말하기/보여주기 구분과 개념을 정확하게 파악하는 작업이다. 그렇다면 『논고』에서 말하기와 보여주기는 각각 무엇을 겨냥하고 있으며, 왜 그러한 구분은 중요했는가? 또한 중기 비트겐슈타인은 왜 그러한 구분과 개념을 포기했는가? 나는 이 글에서 바로 이 물음들에 대해 대답하고자 한다. 나는 다음을 보이고자 한다: 보여주기 개념과 의미체 이론은 매우 중요한 관련을 맺고 있다. 그리고 의미체 이론을 포기했다는 것은 곧 보여주기 개념을 포기했다는 것을 뜻한다.
Abstract
One of the most important things when trying to understand middle Wittgenstein’s philosophy is to explicate why he dismissed the distinction between saying and showing in the Tractatus. To do this, it is necessary to grasp the concept and distinction between saying and showing in the Tractatus and what they respectively aim at. Why was this distinction important? Furthermore, why did middle Wittgenstein give up the distinction and concept? In this paper, I will attempt to answer these questions. I will show that the concept of showing has a crucial relation to the meaning-body theory, and dismissing the meaning-body theory means dismissing the concept of showing.
