철학적 산파법의 교육 세계: 소크라테스의 스승 역할을 중심으로

이 글은 소크라테스의 철학적 산파법을 현재로 소환해 놓고, 그것 안에 녹아들어 있는 교육적 의미를 찾아내고, 그것의 교육적 메시지를 밝혀 놓는 것이다. 소크라테스의 철학적 산파법은 플라톤의 저작 중 테아이테토스(Theaitetos) 속에 들어 있다. 이런 점으로 해서 이 논문 작성을 위한 주된 텍스트는 테아이테토스이다. 이 텍스트 속에서 소크라테스는그의 산파법의 지평을 테아이테토스와 대화를 통하여 그의 입장을 개진하고 있다. 그가 전해주는 교육적 메시지는교사가 대화를 통하여 학생의 영혼을 일깨우고, 학생은 교사의 도움을 통하여 영혼의 각성을 도모하는 것이었다. 이러한 지평은 오늘날 현대교육에서 소홀히 취급하고 있는 스승의 원형적 좌표를 숙고하게 하는 교육의 이정표를제공해 주고 있다. 이것이 소크라테스 산파법의 교육적 의의인 것이다. 이러한 점은 지식이 교육 내용의 핵심을이루고, 이것을 가르치고 배우는 일에 전념하는 교육활동의 현재 모습을 깊이 반성하고, 우리로 하여금 교사의 본래적위상을 다시 직시하게 해준다.
Abstract
This article examines Socratic philosophical midwifery, finds its educational meaning embedded in it, and reveals its educational message. Philosophical midwifery of Socrates is contained in Theaitetos of Platon works. For this reason, the main text for this paper is Theaitetos. In this text, Socrates is putting his position through dialogue with Theaitetos, the horizon of his midwife. His educational message was that the teacher awakened the student’s soul through dialogue, and the student gained the awakening of the soul through the help of the teacher. These horizons provide a milestone in education that ponders the original coordinates of teachers who are neglected in contemporary education today. This is the educational significance of Socrates midwifery. In doing so, we deeply reflect on the present state of educational activities that are devoted to the teaching and learning of knowledge, which constitutes the core of the contents of education, and allows us to rethink the substantial position of the teacher.
