본 연구에서는 지식 위주, 암기 교육을 넘어 미래인재를 양성하고자 공립학교에 도입된 IB PYP 사례 탐구를 통해 시사점을 얻고 학교 교육과정 혁신 방안을 탐구해 보았다. 연구 방법으로는 학교 교육의 전 과정인 교육목표, 계획, 수업, 평가와 관련한 문헌 자료를 중심으로 분석하고, 면담으로 이를 보완하였다. 연구 결과 PYP 학교들은 학교 교육목표 수립, 교육과정 계획, 수업, 평가에서 일관성을 유지하며 교육목표에 기반하여 교육과정을 운영하였다. 개념 기반 탐구학습을 체계적으로 실시하기 위하여 POI와 UOI는 광범위한 숙의를 거쳐 계획되고 실행되었으며, IB의 엄격한 인증 절차에 따라 평가되고 있었다. 학교 교육과정 혁신을 위해서는 교육목표에 기반하며, 교육공동체가 숙의를 통해 함께 참여할 때 학교 교육 변화를 극대화될 수 있다. 그러기 위해서는 교원 업무경감, 인사이동의 유연성이필요하며, 개정되는 교육과정은 거시적인 관점에서 제시될 필요가 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore the ways to innovate school education through the cases of IB PYP introduced in public schools to foster future talents beyond knowledge-oriented memorization education. IB PYP(The IB Primary Years Programme) is an educational program for students aged 3 to 12 managed by the International Baccalaureate (IB). As the research method, the literature data related to educational goals, plans, classes, and evaluations, which comprise the whole process of school education, were analyzed and supplemented with interviews. The results indicated that PYP schools maintained consistency in school educational goal setting, curriculum planning, class, and evaluation and operated the curriculum based on the educational goals. To systematically implement the concept-based inquiry learning, POI(Program of Inquiry) and UOI(Unit of Inquiry) were planned and implemented after extensive deliberation and evaluated according to the IB's strict certification process. Changes in school education can be maximized through educational goals and participation of the educational community participates through deliberation. To achieve this, teachers' work needs to be eased teachers' flexibility in personnel transfer must be ensured, and the revised curriculum needs to be approached from a macro perspective.
