Abstract
This qualitative study was designed to investigate and further understand male students’ attitude towards college life, how their attitudes changed after completing in military service. Nineteen male college students, all enrolled in private university, participated in semi—structured interviews. The results were as follows; most male students naturally experienced the external transition by attending colleges. On the other hand, the internal transition of some male students were occurred through after returning to school from leave, not simply by going to colleges. after temporary leave such as military service, most male students led their lives actively and their passion of study was very high. Especially, male students who came back from leave were very independent and controlled their studies and relationship with others. Male sophomores were very satisfied that their attitudes changed compared to their freshman days. This research shows that college administrators need to consider students’ cultural backgrounds and experiences when they develop and offer college students any types of programs or services.
