Abstract

This study attempted to explore the subjective perception of the factors influencing the recovery of burnout of low-career professional elementary school counselors. Using the concept mapping research method, interviews were conducted with 10 professional counselors with less than 5 years of work experience who had experienced burnout and burnout recovery. 28 statements related to burnout recovery were derived from the interviews. Twenty school counselors participated in a similarity sorting task with these statements, and multidimensional scaling analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis were employed to create the concept map. Five clusters of factors influencing burnout recovery were identified: (1) "Positive Feedback from Counseling Stakeholders," (2) "Positive Use of Leisure," (3) "Efforts to Enhance Professional Competence," (4) "Systemic Support within the School," and (5) "Positive Interpersonal Experiences". This study is significant as the first concept map research on burnout recovery among school counselors, identifying key factors that helped recovering from burnout. Based on the findings, implications for school counselor training programs are discussed, and directions for future research are suggested.
