본 연구는 대학교 교내에 시설하는 대학교의 기숙사라는 기존의 통상적인 개념과는 다른, 구미에서 일반화되고 국내에서도 새로이 시도되고 있는, 교외에 여러 대학 학생들이 거주하는 대학 공동 기숙사의 개념과 현황을 살피고, 그 설립과 운영, 규모, 문화의 공통 특성을 추출하여 새로운 기숙사로서의 대안 가능성을 탐색하고자 하는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위하여 먼저 외국의 경우, 캠퍼스 밖의 한 구역을 도시계획으로 건설한 파리 대학도시의 40개관을 중점적으로 살펴 본 다음, 국내의 서울과 지방에 최근 건설된 10개관의 공동기숙사를 살피며, 특히 급증하는 외국인 유학생을 위한 대학 공동기숙사의 첫 사례인 대전의 경우를 분석하였다. 설립 배경과 운영, 개실의 형식과 규모, 내부 시설과 함께 공동 시설과 그에 따르는 문화 활동 등 주로 소프트웨어를 중점적으로 분석한 결과 앞으로 우리나라 대학 기숙사가 대학 간 협약, 관-학 협력에 의한 공동 기숙사로서 도시계획 차원으로 이루어져, 해외의 유학생과 지역 유학생관이 혼합되고 문화 시설이 겸비된다면 도시 내에 세계화된 문화 중심지가 될 수 있는 가능성을 제시하였다.
Abstract
This paper is an attempt to search for the possibility of new alternative of university dormitory-university cooperative housing-which are general in Europe and United States and are recently emerged in Korea. After a definition of university cooperative housing and analysis of the concepts of it, an analysis of establishment, management, facilities and cultural characteristics of it are deprived from the 40 housings of university city of Paris, and 10 dormitories of Korea. In addition, the Korean first university cooperative housing for foreign students in Daejeon is analysed. As results of analysis, this paper proposes that the university cooperative housing is now possible in cities in korea, by urban planning, and by terms of inter-university or city-university cooperation. In addition, the housings for the foreign students and for the students from rural region are to be mixed, and supporting spaces and cultural facilities are also to be constructed in housing area. This region will be a globalized cultural microcosm. This concept of university cooperative housing will be a vital point of reference for national, metropolitan and university officers and architectural designers today.
