청소년의 인터넷 중독에 대한 조절 변인 탐색

초록

인터넷 중독은 다른 중독 현상과 달리 중독의 대상 자체를 차단하기가 어렵다는데 인터넷 중독 예방과 치료의 어려움이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 청소년이 인터넷 환경을 전면적으로 차단하지 않은 상태에서 인터넷 중독으로부터 청소년을 보호하기 위해서 인터넷 중독에 대한 조절변인을 탐색하였다. 이를 위해서 문헌 연구를 통해 인터넷 중독에 대한 개념, 증상, 진단, 실태, 원인에 대해서 이론적 토대를 확고히 하였다. 그리고 인터넷 중독 모형에 대한 탐색을 통해서 인터넷 중독과 관련된 변인들을 탐색하였다. 연구결과 인터넷 중독과 가장 관련이 있는 변인은 자기통제력으로 나타났다. 인터넷을 하더라도 모든 청소년이 인터넷에 중독되는 것은 아니다. 자기통제력이 낮은 청소년이 인터넷 중독의 경향성이 높은 것으로 보아, 낮은 자기통제력을 지닌 청소년들은 만족지연을 하지 못하고 인터넷의 속성인 속도감이 주는 즉각적인 흥미와 쾌락으로 인해서 인터넷에 빠지게 된다. 따라서 자기통제력은 인터넷 중독으로부터 청소년을 보호할 수 있는 조절 변인으로 결론 내릴 수 있었다. 자기통제력을 향상시킴으로서 인터넷 중독의 예방과 치료의 가능성을 시사하였고, 자기통제력을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안에 대해 실증적 연구의 필요성을 제언하였다.

Abstract

Unlike other additions, Internet Addiction is difficult to prevent and treat in that it is hard to block the Internet itself, which is the object of addition, from accessing. Therefore, this study investigates moderators to Internet Addiction as a mean of protecting adolescents from the addiction of the Internet under the condition that the internet access is not totally denied for its adolescent users. For this purpose, a solid theoretical foundation was laid through the documentary researches, and moderators related to Internet Addiction were sought by the study of models of addiction. Results show that self control is the most related moderator to Internet Addiction because of that not every adolescent user is addicted to the Internet but it is those with less self control who show high tendency of getting addicted to the Internet. They are not satisfied with, thus come to get addicted to the Internet which provides them with instant excitement and pleasure resulting from its own high speed. Therefore, the conclusion is made that self control is the moderator which can protect adolescents against Internet Addiction. This paper suggests the possibility of prevention and treatment of Internet Addiction by means of improving self control, and proposes the necessity of empirical study of the way to improve self control.
