청소년의 인터넷중독에 영향을 미치는 예측변인의 탐색적 연구

본 연구는 청소년의 인터넷중독에 영향을 미치는 몇 가지의 예측변인들을 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 선행연구들을 개관하였고 그 중에서 가장 중요하게 다루어지고 있는 예측변인들을 세 가지의 범주, 즉 인구사회적 요인들, 개인적 요인들, 그리고 가족관계요인들로 구분하여 이들 각각의 요인들이 어떻게 청소년의 인터넷중독에 영향을 주는지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 서울과 경기지역에 거주하는 중·고등학교 남녀청소년을 대상으로 최종 383부의 설문자료를 분석하였고, 나타난 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년의 인터넷중독에 영향을 미치는 인구사회적 요인에서는 부모의 맞벌이 여부가, 둘째, 개인적 요인에서는 성별과 인터넷 사용기간 및 학업성적이, 그리고 셋째, 가족관계요인들 중에서는 여자청소년의 경우 부모의 의사소통유형이 문제형일수록, 남자청소년의 경우에는 어머니의 문제형 의사소통이 인터넷중독을 더욱 결정하는 주요 변인임을 보여주었다. 또한 청소년들이 부모와 함께 살면서 부모와의 개방적인 대화시간을 많이 갖게 될수록 인터넷중독의 가능성이 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 청소년들의 인터넷중독 위험성을 낮추기 위한 기초자료로서의 활용과 의미를 논의하였고, 본 연구의 제한점과 추후연구의 방향을 논의하였다.
Abstract
The present study tried to identify of predicting variables between the demographical factors, personal factors, family relationship factors and internet addiction among adolescent. A questionnaire survey was conducted 383 male and female middle and high school students. The statistics program used to achieve the purpose was SPSS/PC+ 17.0. The statistics methods applied were ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression test. The following conclusions were drawn from the data analysis. Parent's working together, internet use duration, academic records, and parents-adolescent communication function as predicting variables for internet addiction among adolescents. Especially, internet addiction level was higher for the adolescents whose parents have problem-oriented communication than those whose parents have open communication. Also, internet addiction level was higher for the adolescents those who have family structure problems than those who have not family structure problems. Based on these results, implications of the findings and directions for future research on internet addiction are discussed in relation to adolescent problems.
