한국사회 이중가치체계의 특성과 변화

본 논문은 오늘날 한국사회의 지배적 가치관으로서 이중가치체계 - 전통적 가치와 근대적 가치관, 가치체계와 가치구조의 충돌 및 공존, 세대와 계층 간 가치관의 괴리 - 가 사회통합과 소통을 저해한다고 보고 이의 문제점을 지적하고 해결의 실마리를 찾는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해서 가치관과 가치체계의 개념과 특성, 그리고 한국사회 이중가치로서 집단주의와 개인주의, 권위주의와 평등주의, 인간주의와 물질주의, 보편주의와 특수주의의 긴장과 갈등, 공존 현상을 살펴본다. 또한, 대별되는 두 가치관이 근대화 과정을 통해서 계층, 세대, 성, 직업, 지역, 학력을 초월하여 안정된 주류 가치와 보편적 가치로 변화하는 가능성을 모색하고자 한다.
Abstract
It is deemed in this paper that the current dominating values of Korean society, that is, a dual value system - traditional and modern values, collision between a value system and value structure and gap in values between generations․classes of people - hinders social integration and communication, this paper aims to point out the problem of such a dual value system and to look for a solution to the problem. For that, this paper examines concepts and features of values and a value system, and, as the dual value of Korean society, coexistent phenomena collectivism and individualism, authoritarianism and egalitarianism, humanism and materialism, and universalism and specialty-oriented tendency. In addition, it intends to seek the possibility that the two values can rise above generations, gender, occupation and academical background and change into steady dominating and universal values through modernized processes.
