최근 연구윤리에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 자기표절을 둘러싼 논란이 뜨겁다. 즉, 자기표절이라는 용어가 모순은 아닌지, 자기표절의 대안적 용어로 사용하고 있는 중복(이중)게재와 어떤 관계에 있는지, 자기표절은 표절 및 저작권침해와 어떻게 다른지, 자기표절에는 어떤 형태가 있으며, 또 자기표절에 해당하는지의 여부를 어떤 근거를 가지고 판단할 수 있는지 등이 자기표절에 관한 주요 쟁점들이다. 본 논문에서는 바로 이러한 자기표절의 여러 쟁점에 대해 논의하면서 특히 자기표절이 연구윤리의 측면에서 어떤 문제가 있는지를 분석하였다. 아울러 연구윤리의 정립을 위해 연구자가 자기표절을 피할 수 있는 방안으로 학술적 글쓰기에서 올바른 인용을 강조하였다.
Abstract
Recently, it has engendered a lot of controversy among researcher in Korea. The self-plagiarism raises knotty conceptual, legal, ethical, and theoretical questions. This paper deals with some important issues of the Self-Plagiarism such as definition, types, judgment criteria, ethical problems of Self-Plagiarism. And it also provides an extended definition of self-plagiarism, reviews various types regarding self-plagiarism in redundant or duplicate publication and salami slicing publication, imalas publication, text recycling(reuse), examines the ethics of self-plagiarism. To avoid the deliberate or undeliberate attempt to self-plagiarize, researchers should use proper amount of quotations, which means their work should not be filled with quotations. If one uses too many quotations or does not give credit in accordance with the accepted fair practices of the relevant research community in their creative work written on the basis of their own or another's work, this constitutes plagiarism.
