Abstract
China enjoyed a good reputation as a great responsible state of the global community. But government leaders and diplomat must not be conceited China does not intend to take the lead or seek undue attention in international affairs despite its rising economic power and its successful manned space launch. China's role in Korean peninsula have a positive aspect as well as negative aspects. Because its role is mediated by the change of Sino-America relations and China's national interest. In this point, although 'North Korea variables' is important but decisive. China's changing attitude and policy toward North Korea is enlarging and deepening these tendency. So traditional North Korea and China relationship gradually is weakening. Standing at a crossroads in our China policy, we must be wary of an overestimation of China's role in Korean peninsula. In fact, China prefer to 'the peaceful division' of the Korean peninsula. To lead China's positive role, mutual cooperation between South and North Korea is very important and urgent. However this strategy alone is not sufficient condition for the unification. In this sense, engagement reinforce and build on multilateral cooperation enabled by realist causes.
