초록

This study aimed to assess the predictive power of various anthropometric obesity indices for identifying cardiometabolic diseases and depression, and to compare their predictive power according to age and sex. A total of 10,787 participants from the 2018, 2020, and 2022 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (KNHANES) were analyzed. The anthropometric obesity indices included body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), waist-to-height ratio (WHtR), a body shape index (ABSI), and body roundness index (BRI). WHtR demonstrated a higher predictive power for identifying hypertension in the total groups while BRI showed the highest area under the curve (AUC) value for predicting hypertension in both male and female groups. ABSI had the strongest predictive power for diabetes in the total and male groups, while WHtR and BRI exhibited the highest AUC values in the female group. Additionally, BRI showed the highest predictive power for identifying depression in both the total and male groups. Anthropometric obesity indices that incorporate WC value demonstrated high predictive accuracy for hypertension, diabetes, and depression, regardless of sex and obesity status, indicating their potential utility as effective screening tools across various populations.
