초록

Workers in nuclear facilities perform diverse tasks and are exposed to various radiation sources. Effective management of worker’s radiation exposure requires comprehensive consideration of source characteristicsand shielding effects. In particular, nuclear power plant workers perform tasks in numerous areas, making it difficultto model every work space for dose assessment. By applying a Building Information Modeling file which integratesstructural geometry and material information, it is possible to perform dose assessments that reflect the worker’s pathand the shielding effects. The objective of this study is to develop a three-dimensional Building Information Modelingbased worker dose assessment program. To achieve this objective, three-dimensional Building Information Modelingmodule was first designed, and previously developed algorithms were analyzed to develop the dose assessmentmodule. The two modules were then integrated to create a complete program. Dose assessment procedure of thedeveloped program is composed of three main steps 1) importing Building Information Modeling file, 2) acquiringinput parameters, 3) performing dose assessment. In the importing Building Information Modeling step, threedimensional Building Information Modeling module visualizes the imported file. In the acquiring input parametersstep, dose assessment module receives the required information and, in conjunction with the three-dimensionalBuilding Information Modeling module, displays the worker’s path and measurement points on the three-dimensionaldrawing. Finally, in the performing dose assessment step, shielding thicknesses along the paths are first derived fromthe imported Building Information Modeling file and the worker’s path. Dose assessment module then evaluatesradiation dose rates and cumulative doses along the worker’s path and outputs the results at specified time intervals. The program accepts spatial information of nuclear power plants through the Building Information Modeling fileand performs dose assessments corresponding to the worker’s path. By three-dimensional modeling of spatialinformation, it shortens planning time for shielding design and dose simulation, supporting efficient decision-making. Results of this study are expected to contribute to optimizing worker radiation exposure in nuclear power plants andto establishing work plans that adhere to the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principle.
