Objectives: The purpose of this paper is to inform people that the concept of postpartum wind is not a disease name, but a word that describes the physiological situation after childbirth. Methods: First, we reviewed the papers on postpartum wind published so far and examined the concept of postpartum wind (U32.7). Second, we investigated physiological changes in Qi and blood following pregnancy and childbirth to examine postpartum wind. Thirdly, we looked at the postpartum wind among the Jin Kui Yao Lue (金匱要略) condolences. Results: 1. Not all women have deficient qi and blood after childbirth. 2. The meaning of postpartum blood deficiency is deficiency compared to qi. 3. The occurrence of postpartum blood stasis is suppressed by the state of blood deficiency. 4. Postpartum wind is not a word used by the people, but a term that exists in literature. 5. Postpartum wind does not mean disease, but is a term that describes the changed physiological state after childbirth. Conclusions: Postpartum wind does not describe a pathological condition after childbirth, but rather a term that describes normal changes in qi and blood after childbirth compared to before pregnancy.
