Soyo-san-gagam Treatment on Liver-Qi Stagnation Type Menstrual Irregularity : a Systemic Review

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to review the clinical study on Soyo-san-gagam treatment for Liver-Qi Stagnation Type Menstrual Irregularity by analyzing randomized controlled trials. Methods: We searched relevant studies published from electric databases including 4 domestic databases and 4 foreign databases. Data retrieval was conducted on April 9, 2025. The risk of bias was assessed by using Cochrane's risk of bias tool. Results: 640 studies were searched in each foreign databases, and 6 studies were finally selected. The treatment group was all treated with only Soyo-san-gagam, while control group was all treated with only western medicine. In all 6 studies, comparing with control group, the treatment group showed statistically significant improvement on total effective rate, menstrual irregularity score, SF-36 (36-item short form health survey), SAS (Self-Rating Anxiety Scale), SDS(Self-Rating Depression Scale)(p<0.05). Conclusions: Soyo-san-gagam is more effective for treating Liver-Qi Stagnation Type Menstrual Irregularity compared to using western medicine alone.
