초록
Objective: This study presents three cases of patients with a history of functional dyspepsia whose symptoms worsened following traffic accidents accompanied by upper back pain. Methods: All patients received complex Korean medical treatment, including acupuncture at the Hyeopcheok (Jiaji) point, herbal medicine (Insamyangwi-tang), cupping, and moxibustion. Symptoms were assessed at admission and discharge using the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS), the European Quality of Life-5 Dimensions (EQ-5D), and the Gastrointestinal Symptom Score (GIS). Results: After treatment, all patients experienced reduced upper back pain and improved dyspepsia symptoms. NRS and GIS scores decreased and EQ-5D scores increased, indicating symptomatic relief and improved quality of life. No adverse effects were reported. Conclusion: This case series suggests that Hyeopcheok (Jiaji) point acupuncture may be effective in treating dyspepsia exacerbated by trauma-induced paraspinal muscle tension. These findings support further investigation of Korean medicine approaches for post-accident gastrointestinal disorders.
