초록

Objective: This study evaluated the therapeutic effects of Korean medicine-specifically Saenggangunbi-tang-on a patient diagnosed with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Methods: A 36-year-old male diagnosed with MASLD received treatment consisting of Saenggangunbi-tang, along with regular exercise and dietary modifications, over 23 weeks, from September 28, 2024, to March 8, 2025. Treatment outcomes were assessed using lipid profiles, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), body composition via bioelectrical impedance analysis (InBody), the Framingham Steatosis Index (FSI), and self-reported clinical symptoms. Results: The treatment resulted in improvements in lipid profiles, HbA1c, body composition parameters, FSI scores, and clinical symptoms. Notably, triglyceride, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and HbA1c levels decreased to within normal ranges, visceral fat area was reduced, and subjective symptoms improved as measured on the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Conclusion: These findings suggest that Saenggangunbi-tang may offer a promising integrative therapeutic approach for managing MASLD and mitigating associated cardiometabolic risk factors.
