현재의 글로벌 경제는 4차 산업혁명인 디지털화, 자동화, 인공지능, 로봇공학, 생명과학, 빅데이터, 사물인터넷(IoT) 등의 기술혁신으로 산업과 사회 구조를 크게 변화시키며 빠르게 변화하고 있다. 이에 따라 스타트업(극심한 불확실성 속에서 신제품 또는 서비스를 개발하는 모든 기업)의 중요성이 부각되고, 혁신, 일자리 창출, 경제성장, 기술개발 등에서 중요한 역할을 하는 스타트업 창업가들은 빠르게 변화하는 시장에서 새로운 비즈니스를 창출하고 있다. 본 연구는 195명의 스타트업 창업가를 대상으로 스타트업 창업가의 기업가 정신의 하위요인인 혁신성, 진취성, 위험감수성과 기업의 경영성과에 대해 이론적으로 도출하고 각 변수가 기업의 경영성과에 미치는 영향을 실증분석하였다. 연구결과, 스타트업 창업가의 위험감수성은 기업의 재무적 및 비재무적 성과에 모두 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤다. 혁신성은 기업의 비재무적 성과에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치고, 재무적 성과에는 유의한 효과가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 진취성은 기업의 재무적 및 비재무적 성과에 모두 유의한 효과가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 스타트업 창업가를 대상으로 한 기업가정신이 기업의 경영성과에 미치는 영향에 대한 체계적이고 심층적인 연구가 부족한 상황에서 본 연구는 스타트업 창업가 및 이해관계자에게 실용적인 통찰력을 제공하며, 스타트업 창업가들의 역량 강화를 통하여 국가 경쟁력과 기업의 지속적인 성장을 위한 초석을 다지는데 도움을 주고자 한다.
Abstract
The current global economy, referred to as the Fourth Industrial Revolution, is transforming rapidly by developing the industries and society structures significantly with technological innovations such as digitization, automation, artificial intelligence, robotics, life sciences, big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT). As a result, startups—the companies that develop new products or services under extremely uncertain circumstances—are playing crucial roles, and startup entrepreneurs are creating new businesses in the dynamically evolving market. This research involved 195 startup entrepreneurs and theoretically derived sub-factors of startup entrepreneurs' entrepreneurship, including innovativeness, proactiveness, risk-taking propensity, and corporate management performance. Furthermore, the study empirically analyzed the impact of each variable on the business performance of the companies. The findings revealed that the risk-taking propensity of startup entrepreneurs had a significant positive impact on both the financial and non-financial performance of their companies. Innovativeness exhibited a significant positive influence on non-financial performance but showed no significant effects on financial performance. Proactiveness demonstrated no significant effects on both financial and non-financial performance. Given the lack of systematic and in-depth research on the influence of entrepreneurship on the corporate management performance of startup entrepreneurs, this study provides practical insights to startup entrepreneurs and stakeholders and aspires to contribute to national competitiveness and paving the way for sustainable growth of businesses through the enhancement of the capabilities of startup entrepreneurs.
