현대 사회의 치열한 경쟁에서 살아남기 위해서는 R&D 투입을 통한 연구개발, 그리고 이를 이용한 지속적인 혁신과 기업성과 향상에 노력하여야 한다. 연구개발에는 연구개발 관련 자본과 연구개발 인력을 투입해야 한다. 연구개발의 주체는 기업이지만, 실제 혁신 활동은 조직 안에 있는 개개인의 지식과 노력이 뒷받침되어야 하기 때문이다. 따라서 연구개발에 성공하기 위해서는 자본의 투입도 중요하지만, 아이디어 생산자로서의 개개인의 혁신역량, 및 지원도 중요하다. 따라서, 본 연구는 기업의 R&D 투입과 혁신의 결과인 혁신성과, 기업성과와의 관계에 기업규모와 각 기업이 가지고 있는 연구소, 교육훈련조직이 미치는 영향에 대해 분석하였다. 분석에는 한국직업능력연구원에서 실시한 ‘인적자본기업패널’ 2022년 조사 자료를 사용하였으며, 465개의 자료가 최종 분석에 사용되었다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 기본모형의 분석 결과, R&D 관련 비용 투입은 매출액에 긍정적인 영향을 미치며, R&D 관련 인력 투입은 지식재산권에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 혁신성과인 지식재산권은 매출액에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 기업규모와 교육훈련조직은 가설검증 결과 조절효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 연구소 존재는 경로계수 차이 분석 결과 유의하지 않아, 조절효과의 유의성을 검증하지 못했다. 셋째, 기업규모와 교육훈련조직 유무의 상호작용 검증 결과 조절효과는 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 혁신 관련 R&D 투입과 혁신성과, 기업성과 간의 관계에 영향을 미치는 변수들, 즉 기업규모, 독립된 연구조직, 교육훈련조직의 효과를 기업이 처할 수 있는 다양한 환경을 고려하여 실증 분석하였다는 데 그 의의가 있다고 하겠다.
Abstract
In today’s highly competitive landscape, companies need to continuously innovate through R&D investment to boost their performance. However, corporate resources are limited, and companies must achieve the best possible outcomes with these limited resources. Thus, this study analyzes the influence of firm size, as well as the presence of research and training organizations within companies, on the relationship between R&D investment, intellectual property, and firm performance. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, the basic model analysis showed that R&D-related expenditure positively influences sales revenue, and investment in R&D-related personnel positively impacts intellectual property, with intellectual property having a positive (+) effect on sales revenue. Second, firm size and training organizations have a moderating effect on the relationship between R&D investment and performance. However, the presence of research institutes did not show a moderating effect. Third, the interaction between firm size and training organizations was shown to moderate the relationship between R&D investment and performance. Based on the above, the significance of this study lies in its systematic and comprehensive analysis of the factors affecting the relationship between innovation-related R&D investments, intellectual property, and firm performance, or specifically, firm size, independent research organizations, and training organizations.
