한국 상업교육은 위기를 겪고 있다. 상업계 고등학교 교육과정은 기업이 필요로 하는 직무 적합성을 만족시키지 못하고 있으며 이에 따라 상업계 고등학교에 진학하고자 하는 욕구가 감소하고 있다. 하지만 기존의 상업교육 관련 연구는 실태조사 혹은 탐색적 연구에 초점을 맞추고 있어, 상업교육 활성화 방안을 도출하는 데 한계가 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구의 목적은 국내 상업교육의 과거와 현재의 이슈를 검토하고, 최근 미국에서 다루는 최신 상업교육 이슈를 파악하여, 미래 한국 상업교육의 활성화 방안을 도출하는 것이다. 이를 위해 LDA 토픽모델링 방법을 적용하여 국내 유일의 상업교육 학술지인 “상업교육연구”의 창간호부터 2024년 6월호까지 출판된 논문의 초록을 분석하여 한국 상업교육에 대한 과거 및 현재 주요 의제를 도출하고자 한다. 나아가, 국내 상업교육 활성화를 위해 키워드 네트워크 분석을 활용하여 최신 미국의 상업교육 학술지인 “Academy of Management Learning and Education”에 2015년 이후 출판된 연구의 초록을 분석하여 미래 국내 상업교육이 나아가야 할 방향을 제시하였다. 연구 결과는 과거 국내 상업교육은 전반적인 상업교육 개선 및 향상에 초점을 맞추었으며, 현재 국내 상업교육은 상업계 고등학교의 필요를 바탕으로 실무 중심 교육과정의 필요성이 강조되었으며, 체계적인 특성화 고등학교 프로그램의 구축의 필요성, 상업교육에서 재무 및 경제 수업의 변화 방향성에 관한 연구가 주를 이루었다. 반면에 미국의 상업교육에서는 다양한 교육적 의제를 통해 지속가능한 상업교육을 추구하고 있으며, 상업교육 방법의 변화에 관하여 동기부여 학습, 근거 위주 학습, 커뮤니케이션 중심 교수법, 경영 윤리 등과 같은 다양한 교육적 의제가 도출되었다.
Abstract
Korean business education is facing a crisis. The curriculum of commercial high schools fails to meet the job suitability requirements of businesses, resulting in a decline in the desire to enroll in commercial high schools. However, existing research on business education has focused on fact-finding or exploratory studies, limiting the ability to derive solutions for revitalizing commercial education. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to review past and present issues in domestic business education and to identify recent issues in American business education in order to propose strategies for revitalizing future Korean business education. To achieve this, we applied the LDA topic modeling method to analyze the abstracts of papers published from the inaugural issue to the June 2024 issue of "Journal of Commercial Education," the only academic journal dedicated to commercial education in Korea, to identify the main issues of the past and present in Korean business education. Furthermore, to suggest a future direction for revitalizing domestic business education, we employed keyword network analysis to examine the abstracts of research published since 2015 in "Academy of Management Learning and Education," a leading American journal on business education. The results indicate that past research on Korean business education focused on the overall improvement and enhancement of business education. Current research emphasizes the need for a practice-oriented curriculum based on the needs of commercial high schools, the establishment of systematic specialized high school programs, and the changing direction of finance and economics courses in business education. In contrast, American commercial education pursues sustainable business education through a variety of educational agendas, including issues such as motivation-based learning, evidence-based learning, communication-centered teaching methods, and business ethics.
