동아시아 문화 패러다임과 시공관념의 문제

Abstract

The key word of our time is "culture." This phenomenon is ascribed partially to the logic of cultural commodification within the mode of capitalist economic structure. If the preceding century was the time when imperialism ideology basing on military and economic strength was rampant, then the present era facilitates the domination of the powers over the third world nations in form of cultural imperialism. This problem is interlinked with the issue of ideology, the essence of which functions in form of (imaginative) belief system. What matters is not things as they are; rather, the way they are conceived of by the majority of people as a lived ideology is more significant. Things come to us always as interpreted. We are not allowed to have direct access to "naked reality."Following the aforementioned argument, it seems quite irrelevant for us to accomodate the essentialist point of view in terms of interpreting the underlying implication of man and society. Instead, examining the invisible form of thought, functioning as an impetus to generate various cultural phenomena on the surface reality, seems more demanding. This study will enable us to reconfirm the implication of our cultural identity in the time when the slogan of cultural globalization is wide spread. In this research, I plan to reconstruct the in-depth mode of East Asian thought on the ground of a thorough theoretical analysis of archetypical East Asian cosmology.
