현대 사회에서 데이터베이스는 기업과 조직의 핵심 정보를 관리하는 데 필수적인 도구이다. 또한 민감한 정보를 다루기 때문에 보안 위협에 취약한 면이 있다. 특히, 데이터베이스를 사용하는 서버의 메모리 내 데이터는 정보 수집을 목표로 둔 공격자의 주요 표적이 될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 쿼리를 조작하여 DBMS가 메모리상에 적재하는 데이터를 유도한 뒤 메모리 분석을 통해 내부 데이터를 추출한다. 이를 통해 메모리 내 데이터 보안 취약성을 부각시키고, 시스템 관리자와 보안 전문가들에게 잠재적 위협에 대해 제시한다.
Abstract
In the modern world, databases are essential tools for managing critical information for businesses and organizations. However, they are also vulnerable to security threats because they deal with sensitive information. In particular, the in-memory data on servers that use databases can be a prime target for attackers aiming to gather information. In this study, we manipulate queries to induce the data that the DBMS loads into memory, and then extract the internal data through memory analysis. We highlight in-memory data security vulnerabilities and present potential threats to system administrators and security professionals.
