Abstract

》The purpose of this study was to identify bimanual coordination movement pattern comparison between mental retardation and non-retarded students according to visual information. In order to obtain the purpose of study, bimanual coordination apparatus(Huh, 2003) was used after updating and adjustment with touch pad board. The subjects of the study were 20 middle school students with mild mental retardation and 20 non-retarded students from W city in Kangwondo. Subjects were matched with age. Subjects were all male students with normal visual sight and right dominant hand. Data were corrected using computerized system and analyzed using SPSS/PC ver. 12.0. Alpha was set .05 level. Three-way repeated ANOVA analysis were used for analysis of movement time variables; used hand(right vs left) × hand condition( one vs two) × group(MR vs non-MR). Two-way ANOVA for visual condition(full vision vs visual interference) × movement condition (distance, symmetry) was performed for performance error. Results were as follows: First, non-MR students did not have a difference in movement execution for visual condition while MR students have influenced by visual condition in bimanual coordination. Hands movement of non-MR students have convergent pattern in asymmetry movement condition regardless of visual condition. However, MR students have convergent pattern in only RSLL(right short left long). This group have parallel pattern in other condition by slow down of both hand similarly. Overall these results indicated MR students have a preference of changing both hands instead one hand in terms developmental point of view. These results also can be applied for teaching daily activities and motor learning abilities for MR students. Second, MR students have the most performance errors in visual interference condition. There were more performance errors in asymmetry and long distance.
