Abstract
The Western Learning of China in the Late Qing Dynasty is diffused by Western missionaries as A. Wylie(1815-1887), Y.J. Allen(1836-1907), T. Richard(1845-1919), W. Muirhead (1822-1900), J. Fryer(1839-1928), W.A.P. Martin(1827-1916). They organized 'The Society for the Diffusion of Christian and General Knowledge among the Chinese' in 1887 and issued Globe Magazine(is changed to The Review of the Time in 1889) in 1874. The Western Learning of China in the Late 19th Century held peculiar characteristics: that is systematic and hold duality of structure. As it were, they promoted the Diffusion of Western Learning as a Project of Knowledge, and taking a position of missionary work into account, they primarily selected books of religion and natural science. This affected modern project of china and formation of idea of Chinese principle and Western application.
