文學復古를 통한 ‘文’의 再建 - 章太炎의 『國學槪論』을 중심으로

Abstract

Guoxue Gailun was recorded by Cao, Juren, who attended a lecture of Zhang, Taiyan on Guoxue in Shanghai from April to June in 1922. Zhang, Taiyan mentioned definition of Guoxue, ways to study Guoxue and the procedure of Jingxue, Zhexue(philosophy), and Wenxue(literature) in an attempt to develop his perspective on Wen in his lecture. First of all, this thesis traces the process of the way Zhang, Taiyan analysizes the essence of Guoxue and the concept of Wen. Though he refers to Jingxue, Zhuzixue, Wenxue and history extensively, we can say his primary concern in his lecture is the contemplation of Guoxue based on Wen, which finally would lead to find out 'legitimacy' in Guoxue. In this perspective, he takes notice of Wen in the relation of the individual and history itself. Furthermore, collating philosophy of Guoxue, he put importance on Zhuangzi and Buddhism(Weishixue) which is directly connected to his thoughts on Wen. He is convinced they are crucial in that they focuse on 'freedom', 'equality', and 'sublation of oneself', which they have in common. Last but not least, this inquiry explores Zhang, Taiyan's point of view on Baihua poetry in the exchange of the letters with Cao, Juren. Zhang, Taiyan was against Western theory of social evolution, arguing the origin of the Baihua poetry is not in the Occident but in the Chinese ancient literature itself. In this sense, Cao, Juren once sent a mail to Zhang, Taiyan to argue his idea that 'Baihua poetry' cannot be looked upon as a poetry. We can infer Zhang, Taiyan's complicated perspective on Wen from their discussion on Baihua poetry.
