Abstract
This paper analyzes the contents of the 『忝齋漫筆』 and 『豹菴遺彩』, which are manuscripts of the family of Pyoam Kang Se-hwang (1713-1791). "Cheomjae Manpil" was handwritten by Kang Se-hwang in October 1744, and is a source that shows the 32-year-old Kang Se-hwang's interest in learning and writing. 『讀書録』 and 『讀書續録』 by Seol Seon of the Ming Dynasty, and 「無名公傳」 by Soh Ong of the Song Dynasty take up half of the volume, after which a passage from 『Yeki』 and 『Jungyong』 is copied in order, as well as famous passages from the Northern Song Dynasty, such as Yang Shi's 「示學者作」, Soh Ong's 「皇極經世一元吟」·「龍門道中」, Jin Deoksu’s 「心經贊」, and Jang Jae’s 「東銘」·「西銘」. In addition, Kang Se-hwang's seal, '光之', is stamped in several places. Judging from the condition of the book, it seems that he first tied the wire-bound book of the Five Needle Eye Method and then copied old texts whenever he had time. Kang Se-hwang copied Seolseon's "Dokseorok" and inherited his grandfather Kang Baek-nyeon's reading experience, and used it as a tool for self-cultivation and learning. In addition, it seems that he was influenced by Soong's "Mumyeonggongjeon" and Chinese poetry, and created Kang Se-hwang's "Pyoongjaji" and self-portraits and praises of portraits. "Pyoam Yuchae" is a collection of poems he wrote in the winter of 1790, when he was 78 years old, at the request of an acquaintance. Here, too, poems from the Tang and Song Dynasties are mainly selected, including those by Do Jahm, Wang You, Du Bo, Yeong Cheol, Yang Geowon, and Southern Tang's Lee Zhong, Soh Ong, and Cheng Ho. The preface mentions the formation of “Pyoam Yuchae” and the Korean blue bamboo paper. “Pyoam Yuchae” reveals the mature mental world of the old Pyoam and his will to break away from specific examples. In addition, we can see examples of using domestically produced blue bamboo paper and paying attention to the four pillars of Korean stationery (munbangsau).
