Abstract

This thesis studies designs and curriculums of ceramics to use the idea of elementary school students and the environment around us in elementary school design and craft practice classes. The study aims to search the design craft class leading the elementary students to participate in the class actively and positively, test art and ceramics materials, and create art works with composite materials. For the purpose of this, the ways to plan a design using the surrounding things, a design using animals, a design using flowers and nature, a design using moving chairs and a design using bicycles were planned and implemented. In other words, I brought out bikes that children usually ride and things in their everyday lives, and applied them to art in elementary schools, making students exert their various thoughts and perspectives through the art class using ceramics materials. In addition, a directing method using sky and space sense was planned and implemented for craft design education utilizing space. The research results in several conclusions as follows. First, moulding can vary according to the composition and nature of the material in the elementary art class using ceramics material. Second, the program introducing the stereoscopic technique of movement as diverse tangible and intangible materials is required in elementary art classes. Third, we need to reflect the students’ imagination, sense of motion, and ability in the art lesson of elementary school, making use of objects and environment they often face around. Thus, this experiment opened the possibility of design and ceramics craft elementary art classes that create fun and interest via various art expansions, materials, and craft techniques. In this way, we can create a variety of decorations and backgrounds with a single form like a bicycle, producing changeable different lessons and drawing learning effects.
