Abstract

In modern cities, the characteristics of transportation are changing from "base-based" to "last mile" where people get off public transportation and move to their final destination through personal mobility. It adds convenience to users by using personal mobility such as a shared bicycles or electric kickboards. Due to their small size and lightweight, they have the advantages of small space occupancy, low energy consumption, and low emissions compared to ordinary micro mobile devices, and therefore have recently been widely used in urban areas. The environment and traffic congestion problems have been resolved to some extent according to the new traffic pattern. According to the Korea Transportation Institute, the domestic personal mobility market is growing at an annual rate of more than 20%. According to the development trend, the electric kickboard market is expected to expand further in the future. Therefore, a design study on electric kickboards is needed. The purpose of this study is to predict the development direction of future electric mobility by analyzing electric kickboards that have appeared so far as a previous study. The research method examines and analyzes electric kickboards based on literature research and data. The research contents first explain the birth, change, development, and expansion of electric kickboards in detail based on literature data, analyze mainstream electric kickboards that appear on the market, and derive design characteristics. Analyze design changes for baseboard of electric kickboards and combine objective data to predict future development directions. Research results show that the baseboard of electric kickboards will become thinner and slimmer in the future. In addition, while reducing the weight of the baseboard of the unit area, the vehicle body was made smaller and lighter with a foldable structure. Most importantly, the possibility of switching to renewable energy instead will be completely changed.
