초록

Museums play a significant role in the humanities and social sciences: exhibition spaces for material cultural heritage and important educational venues. Comprehensive museums are increasingly prioritizing children's education and services, recognizing children as important audiences for their services. As the topic of museum children's education continues to evolve, more and more museums are implementing design practices for interior exhibition spaces specifically tailored to children. This study utilizes William Stephenson's Q methodology to investigate the different types of design consciousness in museum interior exhibition spaces for children and to gain a better understanding of their requirements. The ultimate goal is to create museum interior exhibition spaces that cater to the needs of children. To achieve this, an expert group selected 33 Q items based on a literature review and in-depth interviews. They conducted a questionnaire survey with a sample of 36 individuals from Shandong Province, China. The Q items were classified using a forced allocation method: and scores were assigned using Q data coding. Finally, the collected data were processed and analyzed. The research findings suggest that the design consciousness of children's interior exhibition spaces in museums can be categorized into four types. Each type has unique characteristic, the first type focuses on autonomy and exploratory experience of the space, the second type prefers safety and comfort experience, the third type emphasizes social and interactive experience, and the fourth type values sensory and behavioral needs experience. The study analyzes the distribution weights of various types and factors. The results demonstrate a strong correlation between type1 and type4, while type2 is largely independent of type4. The aim of this study is to help museums understanding the requirements and expectations of children and related audiences, and to provide more engaging and educational exhibitions and activities. The results of this study also serve as a reference for future interior designers, assisting them in designing museum interior exhibition spaces that are more suitable for children.
