Abstract
Contemporary fiber art is expanding into the field of public art based on various forms of formative work beyond the boundaries of genres due to the emergence of various materials and technological development. Focusing on this trend, this paper focuses on modern fiber formative artists and seeks new formative possibilities for the utilization of the structural characteristics of fiber through the process of studying their work based on the interaction of fiber and light of porous structure, In addition, the necessity of new artistic experience and possibility through interaction with spectators and interdisciplinary research is examined as follows: First, the formative characteristics according to the porous structure of fiber and the formative characteristics according to the expression type of light are examined. In fiber art, the porous structure itself provides a variety of visual experiences, and these porous structures exhibit unique visual characteristics when light is projected, enabling new perceptions and experiences of space. In addition to the formative characteristics of the porous structure, through the process of examining the formative characteristics according to the expression type of light, various visual effects can be obtained when the use of light source equipment, utilization of natural light, afterimage of light and shadow are used. When these expression types are combined with porous structural fibers, various formative and spatial effects can be created and mutual relations with viewers can be found. At the present time when the combination of many genres, the study of materials, and the development of technology are being carried out, this study confirmed the interrelationship between art works and viewers, the new artistic value of textile structure, the exploration of extended expression areas, and the need for interdisciplinary research.
