Abstract
The purpose of the study is twofold: first, to establish new standardized categories for the syntactic and semantic relationships between two NPs of the Korean double nominative constructions; second, to propose a new constraint particularly for analyzing the Korean contrastive constructions based upon the research results of the study. Different from the existing studies on this area which has been relied mainly upon the notion of 'subordination' in defining the relationship between the NPs of the Korean DNCs, the study attempts to reestablish new categorial standards in detail appropriate for the HPSG's theoretical framework. In addition, some constraints and devices for reanalyzing Korean contrastive constructions will be suggested.
