The purposes of this study are to analyse the pronunciation teaching materials and to investigate the improvement of Korean speaker’s pronunciation after they are trained based on the suggested methods of these materials. For these purposes, 13 pronunciation teaching materials were analysed and the pronunciation methods of English front tense/lax vowel pairs and oral stops were implemented to the pronunciation training. The effectiveness of these training was investigated through an experiment. 10 Korean females were directed to pronounce English vowels and stops based on these training and their post-training production was compared with that of their pre-training pronunciation. The analysis of the materials shows that most English pronunciation teaching materials tend to consider the phonetic differences between English and Korean and try to provide the effective ways to help Korean speakers’ English pronunciation. The result of an experiment shows that English front vowels of the subjects were improved in terms of only certain features while there was no improvement in other features. In addition, the pronunciation of oral stops were improved a lot after training in that VOTs of subjects became closer to those of native English speakers.
