초록
The purpose of this research is to observe the elementary school students’ perception of smart education in English. The participants consist of 601 third and fourth graders in two elementary schools in Gyeonggi-do. As they are surveyed with questionnaires, gender and grade differences are taken into consideration in determining the outcome of the data. The results of the analysis show that the students are not fully adapted to the resources provided in the upcoming digital textbooks. In addition, the students’ understanding of various technological words that are used for smart education and their readiness in using learning materials and functions of digital textbooks are not high. Therefore educational authorities should push for changes: students are encouraged to more opportunities of the use of appropriate technology for smart education. Finally, pedagogical implications and directions for future research with smart education in English are suggested.
