The current study aims to examine the articulatory realization of the consonant cluster /lk-t/ in Korean and compare them with that of the relevant single coda consonants /l-t/ and /k-t/, using 3D/4D ultrasound technology. The results of this study reveal that none of the /lk-t/ clusters produced by the four speakers was simplified. For three participants, clear sequences of the three consonants were exhibited from the ultrasound images. However, the consonants [l] and [k] in the cluster were heavily coarticulated with each other and thus displayed quite a bit different tongue shapes from the corresponding single codas [l] and [k]. For one participant, the stem-final consonant cluster /lk/ was articulated as a consonant which has articulatory characteristics of both /l/ and /k/.
