대학 수업에서 학습몰입에 대한 국내 연구 동향 분석

Research Trends on Learning Engagement at University Classrooms in South Korea

초록

본 연구는 대학교 교수학습 상황에서의 학습몰입과 관련된 국내 연구 동향을 파악함으로써 학습몰입 연구에 활용된 주요 변인과 대학생의 학습몰입을 촉진하기 위한 교수설계 전략을 확인하고 이를 종합하여 학습몰입의 개념적 프레임워크를 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 Oga-Baldwin(2019)의 학습몰입 프레임워크를 활용하여 2017년부터 2022년까지 5년 동안 KCI에 등재된 대학 수업 맥락에서 수행된 국내 학습몰입 연구를 대상으로 체계적 문헌분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과로 대학 수업환경에서 수행된 학습몰입 연구는 매년 증가하는 양상을 띠고 학습몰입을 촉진하기 위한 교수전략은 대학 교육현장에서 다양하게 응용이 되고 있다. 학습몰입에 영향을 주는 선행변인으로는 학습자 특성 변인과 학습환경 특성 변인으로 분류할 수 있고, 학습몰입의 결과변인으로는 학습자의 만족도, 학습태도, 학습역량, 학업성취도로 분류할 수 있다. 끝으로 각 연구별로 제시한 학습몰입의 구성요인들을 Fredricks 외(2004)의 연구와 Csikszentmihalyi(1990)의 몰입이론과 비교한 뒤, 국내 대학 수업 맥락에서의 학습몰입의 통합적 개념 모형을 제시하였다. 이 연구는 대학 수업에서의 학습몰입의 중요성을 강조하고 학습몰입의 촉진을 위한 통합적 개념 모형을 제시하여, 국내 대학 수업 맥락에서 교수설계 시 학습몰입과 관련한 다양한 변인을 이해하고 이를 체계적으로 적용할 수 있도록 교수설계 및 실천의 기초자료를 제공한다는 데 의의가 있다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the main factors utilized in learning engagement research and the instructional design strategies to promote learning engagement among university students. In addition, this study synthesizes these findings to propose a conceptual framework for learning engagement, suggesting a multifaceted set of factors to guide instructional design for learning engagement in college classes. To achieve this goal, we utilized Oga-Baldwin's (2019) learning engagement framework to conducted a systematic literature review of studies published in Korea on learning engagement in KCI-listed university classes from 2017 to 2022. Our findings show the number of learning engagement studies is increasing every year, and teaching strategies to promote learning engagement are being applied in various ways in university education. The antecedents of learning engagement can be classified into two categories: learner characteristics and learning environment characteristics. The outcome variables of learning engagement are learner satisfaction, learning attitude, learning competence, and academic achievement. Following a comparison of Fredricks et al.'s (2004) engagement theory and Csikszentmihalyi's (1990) flow theory, we present an integrated conceptual model of learning engagement in the Korean university classroom context. This study emphasizes the importance of learning engagement in university classes and presents an integrated conceptual model of learning engagement to promote learning engagement, providing a basis for instructional design and practice to understand and systematically apply various variables related to learning engagement in instructional design in the context of Korean university classes.
