이 논문은 독일 신학자 에른스트 트뢸취(1865-1923)가 처음 도입했던 ‘역사적 방법’의 한계를 극복하게 한 ‘사회학적 방법’이 무엇인지, 어떤 측면에서 방법론적으로 새로운 의미를 주었는지 분석한다. 그리고 기독교 이념의 공동체를 유형론적으로 분석하고, 기독교의 역동적 역사를세 가지 유형으로 이해하고자 한다. 이로써 결론에 가서 신학과 사회학 그리고 기독교와 사회의관계를 보다 심층적으로 이해하는 것에 그 목적을 둔다. 트뢸취의 사회학적 방법은 오늘날까지 역사와 세계, 기독교와 사회, 신학과 사회학의 관계를 바라보는 관점을 유의미하게 제시하고 있다. 이 연구 결과는 기독교인으로서 가져야 할 역사관, 세계관, 사회관, 학제적 사유방식 등에 대해 깊이 성찰할 여러 소재를 제공하고 있다. 첫째, 역사와 세계는 상호관계적이다. 기독교의 역사는 하나님 계시의 역사이다. 하나님의계시는 역사적이다. 유일회적이고, 원천적이고, 비합리적인 신적 현현이다. 기독교 역사는 정신의 역사이다. 예수 그리스도의 말씀은 당시 팔레스타인의 사회적, 자연적 정황과 결부되어있다. 역사 속에서 기독교의 이념만이 발전하는 것이 아닌 여러 종교이념과의 관계 속에서발전하고, 사회학적 조건에 의거 다양하고 복잡한 형태로 발전하게 된다. 둘째, 종교와 사회는 상호관계적이다. 독립변수로서 종교는 사회에 영향을 미친다. 종교는그 자체로 독자성을 가진다. 그러나 종교는 사회에서 독립변수로만 존재하지 않고, 사회로부터 영향을 받는 종속변수 또한 갖고 있다. 사회 역시 그 자체로 독립변수의 성격을 갖고, 종교에 강력한 영향력을 미친다. 셋째, 신학과 사회학 역시 상호관계적이다. 모든 학문은 학제적인 교호관계를 가진다. 신학이 역사학과의 관계가 있었듯이, 사회학과의 관계를 부정할 수 없다. 사회학은 역사학처럼신학의 보조학문이 된다. 신학의 내용은 한편으로 독립변수이지만, 다른 한편으로는 사회학적방법으로 학문적 교류가 가능하다.
Abstract
The main purpose of this article is to analyze, what the sociological method by Germany theologian Ernst Troeltsch (1865-1923) is, who is effected by Germany sociologist Max Weber (1864-1920) and why must it mean, in order to know the correlation between history and world, Christianity and society or theology and sociology. Through studying this article dealing with disputes about modern methodology(through Germany philosophy by neo-Kantians) and with relation between two sciences, theology and sociology, two important cores being acquired through the sociological method are suggested: 1. Methodological Change as a supplement of the historical method―correlation between Ideal as spirit and nature 2. Typology as an instrument of historical study ―building of various sociological communities in Christianity(3 types: church, sect and mystic). Through consequence of this study, the following points in this entire article are emphasized as such. First, history and world is inter-relational. The history of Christianity is the history of revelation of God. The history of revelation of God is historical, namely only one, original, godly and irrational. And the history of Christianity is the history of spirit. The words of Jesus Christ were surrounded with natural and social conditions and situations. Spirit and nature is inter-relational. Second, religion and society is inter-relational. Religion as an independent variable effects the society. Religion itself has independent character. But religion is not as only an independent variable, but is effected strongly. The Christianity as social religion effects the society and is effected by the society. Third, theology and sociology is inter-relational. All sciences have interdisciplinary relation. Theology is therefore related with sociological sciences as well as historical sciences. But sociology is able to be a supplement science of theology. Ernst Troeltsch has recognized that Christianity itself is sociological complex phenomena, which were distinguished three types in history of Christianity: Church-type, secttype and mystic-type.
